P.S.U. Will Not Mass Mobilize

Dean Flowers

P.S.U. President Dean Flowers admits that the docking of wages, as well as the ten percent salary cut may have deflated the momentum of the strike.

Dean Flowers, President, P.S.U.

“It has to a certain degree, but I am very proud to say that despite government’s decision or declaration that that would happen, even up until last week and even up until the AGM this weekend.  You had those true unionists who had the conviction that they’re standing for something today or else they will be subjected to worst in the future, who are saying [that] the strike action continues and pretty much being cognizant of exactly what you’re saying that in fact this could cause adverse financial constraints or reaction on our members.  We have said to our members, based on your mandate, we will continue with our trade dispute and we will keep it alive with the government until such time that it is settled.  Where strike action is concerned, we will not move to mass mobilize membership at this point in time, however, branch chairs liaise and communicate with your members and where it is commendable or where the numbers are showing that in fact effective strike action can be implemented, please do so.”
