Will ComPol Take the COVID-19 Jab?

Chester Williams

The COVID-19 vaccine roll-out continues for all phases and up to this week, the healthcare workers have the highest coverage.  Some eighty-five percent have taken the first dose, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness. This is followed by fifty-one percent of teachers who have taken the vaccine and sixty point five percent of persons sixty years and older.  One group that is still lagging behind, although it has been two weeks since they became eligible to take the vaccine, is the police.  On Thursday, the media asked ComPol about the vaccination among his officers and why he himself has not gotten vaccinated.

Reporter

“Can you give us an update on the number of police officers that are now vaccinated?”

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“I cannot say at this time but I think it is about over twenty percent.”

Reporter

“We asked you this two weeks ago but just wanted an update – have you now led by example and gotten the vaccine yourself?”

Chester Williams

“I have been extremely busy around the country. I have been in Dangriga, Punta Gorda and Independence so I have not had the chance but I intend to do it before the week is over.”

Andrea Polanco

“Sir, it takes like two minutes?”

Chester Williams

“I know. (Laughs)”

Andrea Polanco

“Are you scared, sir?”

Chester Williams

“No. No. (Laughs)”

Andrea Polanco

“Scared of needles?”

Chester Williams

“No. No. (Laughs)”
