Missing Man Found Dead in Yalbac Hills

Alex Guzman

There was a sad ending today in the search for missing Armenia resident, Alex Guzman after his decomposing body was located this morning.  A search team made up of family members and friends discovered Guzman’s body just before ten o’clock today in the Yalbac Hill area of Spanish Lookout.  Guzman was in the area looking for work and was last seen alive on Saturday.  Today, his nephew confirmed the tragic news, but told News Five that they can’t confirm what led to his death until they get the results of a post-mortem.

On the Phone: Antonio Samayoa, Nephew of the Deceased

“Alex was a very kind person and friendly and he would assist anyone. He was a tour guide by profession and very skilled. He even had training in survival so these skills kept our hopes high thinking that these skills would kick in and he would be able to survive but unfortunately he didn’t.”

Andrea Polanco

“Have you guys gathered if there were any injuries on the body or what was observed on the scene?”

On the Phone: Antonio Samayoa

“So far we don’t have that kind of info and we are still waiting on an official police report. The forensic team should be doing an autopsy and then we can get an idea of exactly what happened.”

Andrea Polanco

“Do you guys suspect that he was killed?”

On the Phone: Antonio Samayoa

“We don’t suspect any foul play at the moment and like I said we are waiting on the results of the autopsy and see what that has to say.”

Andrea Polanco

“Have you guys been able to find out if he was seen over the past few days and what he was doing?”

On the Phone: Antonio Samayoa

“Yeah, he was seen on Saturday morning around ten and that was the last time he was seen until today when they came across the body.”

Andrea Polanco

“And he was doing what – was he in the company of other people? What was he doing when he was last spotted?”

On the Phone: Antonio Samayoa

“He was by himself when he was last spotted and he was just resting from the heat before he started moving again.”

Andrea Polanco

“And there are no reports of him perhaps drinking, socializing back there?”

On the Phone: Antonio Samayoa

“No, no reports. We don’t have a good idea if he was drinking or something.”
