Business Owner Seeks Ministerial Intervention

Orlando Castillo

The Local Building Authority responded to Castillo in writing on April twenty-second, outline all the adjustments that need to be made for the plan to get a stamp of approval.  Earlier today, an employee of the Dangriga Town Council who works out of the office of the Local Building Authority reiterated the point that Castillo is aware of the shortcomings on the plan he submitted.  Castillo, on the other hand, is attempting to get the attention of the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing for his intervention in the matter.

“I have quite an extensive amount of customers but I can’t expand.  I need to expand and I need to increase my income to be able to employ more people.  With this particular plan that I am putting forward, I can employ up to ten to twelve people, the potential is there.  I am asking, this comes under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing.  I am asking for him, to meet with him or to meet with those in the industry to review what I have done and to see where is it that they can help.  To my mind, the measures and the stringent measures in place where CBA and so is concerned is too heavy to carry for small people.  If we don’t get help we will not be able to move beyond a certain point and I know that I am not the only one that is frustrated on this.  I know many small businesses that are frustrated to move on because of this same thing.  It is too rigid.  But I am doing this hoping that I get the attention of the Minister of Housing.”
