Prison stabbing victim will not press charges

In a correction to a story we ran on Thursday night’s newscast, it was inmate Nero Smith who stabbed fellow prisoner Albert Broaster in his back and not the other way around as we had reported. Broaster remains in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a stable condition. According to reports, Broaster was stabbed as a result of an old misunderstanding. Although Smith has been questioned about the incident, the police could not arrest him as Broaster has refused to press any charges against his fellow inmate. Smith has since been returned to the Hattieville Prison. Meanwhile it appears that no prisoners will be held accountable for the disturbance caused at Hattieville on Tuesday night. Jennifer Lovell, the Acting Superintendent of Prisons, told News Five that none of the inmates in Tango two building, where the commotion took place, are willing to talk about the incident fearing that they may be attacked for telling the authorities anything about what they may have witnessed.
