Alan Gobie Shares His Side of the Recological Debacle

The founder of Recological Systems Limited which is now at the heart of a scandal involving the Commerce Bight Port in Dangriga, Alan Gobie, has come forward with his version of what transpired with the company.  This afternoon, Gobie held a zoom conference and spoke about the Memorandum of Understanding signed between his company and the Government of Belize, and the introduction of SeaOne into the equation.  We note however, that R.S.L. does not have a power purchase agreement with Belize Electricity Limited, as previously reported.  According to Gobie, after agreeing with SeaOne that monies would be transferred to continue with the Commerce Bight project, that transfer never happened.

“I signed the two M.O.U.s when I was there, with the Government of Belize.  I also signed the MOU with SeaOne Holdings from Houston to bring the power generation package to Belize.  I flew out to Houston to formulate the deal with SeaOne and one of the things we had the meetings about was that they would put up capital for us to continue working with the port project, per se, to get all the schematic done and how we’re going to repair the pier, etc., etc., what dredging we need to do with the port.  We came to a deal with that they would possibly send the money within a week to two weeks into Recological’s account.  When I got back it never happened and that’s when it all came to fruition that they had other lights that they wanted to turn on and I wasn’t one of them, still being in the company.  So I think that’s the answer you’re looking for, that the monies could have been and possibly were sent to Belize but were not put into Recological’s account.”
