Commission of Inquiry Suspended, Indefinitely?

While we may never know who gave the order to cut off the live stream of the Commission of Inquiry proceedings today, what we do know is that the inquiry has been put off indefinitely – well that is until the unions and the government can come to an agreement.  Marshalleck told the press that he was informed by the unions’ rep Luis Luke Martinez of the N.T.U.C.B. that they wouldn’t be participating in the inquiry until maters are resolved with G.O.B.

“We had decided that the quorum should be all three of us that if the union rep didn’t sit there would be no point in proceeding with just two members.   From my perspective the decision was easy. It was just that we would have to adjourn the proceedings until the difference between the government and the unions they work them out.  The date for the hearing is adjourned but there is no new date fixed and if I recollect what Mr. Martinez said correctly is that they had indicated that unless the prime minister give the unions certain assurances they wouldn’t be proceeding with the commission. But they weren’t bringing the thing to an end. So, from my perspective it is waiting to see what comes of that.”
