Messengers release new CD

Story Picture
Whenever a Belizean artist produces a new CD or tape we usually like to give a listen and share the news with our viewers. Oftentimes the artist is new or obscure. Today’s group is anything but.

“Bend Down and Wine,” is the fourth CD to be released by Santino’s Messengers. The band considers the album to be their best production because of the large number of new original tracks on the compact disc.

Santino Castillo, General Manager, Santino’s Messengers

“Brand new songs, with the exception of two songs: “San Pedro Jammin,” which is a remake of “San Pedro Salsa” in a more punta rhythm that’s the one I do on track five and also the one titled, “Bruk yu back.” The other eight are all originals, brand new.

We decided to title the CD, “Bend Down and Wine” because after looking at all the originals, in my mind and I sat down with Lucio, my band leader, we looked at the songs and decided which ones would go best with a photograph. And when we looked at them we figured, “Bend Down and Wine” with a good C-Jamm girl on the cover bending down and wine with a double image shot by Tony Rath would have been the best way to go.”

While the original songs were written by the band’s lead members, Castillo gave much credit to Lucio Enriquez, saying that the musician who has been with the band since its inception in 1985, is the one responsible for most of the originals and has done a great job in compiling them on the album.

If you are interested in getting a copy of Santino’s Messengers, “Bend Down and Wine,” the CD is presently available at a special price of twenty-five dollars at all leading record stores.
