PM Comments on Sale of Aircrafts and Firearms

Back in March we told you about the sale of four aircraft under the Briceno administration which were finalized in February of 2021. The two Grumman Gulfstream G-Two and two Hawker Sidley H.S. one-twenty-five’s were sold for only five hundred and forty thousand dollars and listed as unserviceable.  The Minister of Finance, according to the approval letter, signed off on the waiver of boarding and sale. In addition, approvals were given for the sale of three firearms, including a nine millimeter pistol, Rugar brand bold action rifle and a nine millimeter Cherokee brand pistol. When the press caught up with Prime Minister John Briceño outside the National Assembly Building on Friday, he was asked about these sales. Here is his response.

“This was brought to my attention to say that this offer was made and that we should accept it. What we are trying to do right here is that those planes have been out there and that they are losing value every day. The B.D.F. is telling me that one they are spending over a hundred dollars to take care of it in a year. When they brought it out to my attention and say it best you sell it and I was under the impression that this was the best offer we got, and that is why I approved it. Now, as to the issue of the guns, can we improve, of course we could improve. I am not infallible, I am human.”
