Increased Flights to Belize

Nicole Solano

It was recently announced that COPA Airlines is to resume flights to Belize. This is welcome news on both the economic and tourism fronts because it allows for the country to tap into travellers from South America who make their way through COPA’s hub in Panama. C.E.O. Nicole Solano says that on Holy Saturday, the P.G.I.A. will see one of its busiest days since the airport reopened on October first, 2020.

“Airlift is very important. We need to be able to have airline capacity and seat capacity coming into Belize and what we have seen really is an increase in that capacity. The airlifts that have traditionally served Belize, most of them are coming back, and then we are seeing new routes as well. So yes, Saturdays are typically busy days because we have additional flights that are weekly. So Saturdays have always been busy; this one in particular begin one of the busiest and with regard to COPA, we have indication that they will be resuming flights to Belize in June. There is still some details that we are working out with them, but it is extremely good news because we need the airlift in from South America.”
