U.D.P. Leader Says ‘Wi Ready’ for Municipal Elections!

Patrick Faber

Nomination Day has officially kicked off the Municipal Election fervor. News Five spoke with United Democratic Party Leader Patrick Faber on Monday about the Belize City slate and his party’s ability to assemble some strong candidates even during difficult times.

Patrick Faber, Leader, U.D.P.

“The fact that our party is so close after the kind of defeat we received in November, from the mere fact that we are able to put together nine excellent slates shows that the U.D.P. is not at all dead. This party is in fact, alive and kicking.   I think this Belize City slate, in particular, is spectacular. Orson Picart brings a great deal of leadership capacity to this team and he will do so to Belize City as well. In fact the very well balanced team will also contribute to taking back the city, or building back the city as they have put it. Yes, these elections are important to our party and a step forward for us to convince the wider electorate, not only those in municipalities but also those in rural that the U.D.P. continues to be a viable option – not only a viable option but I think many Belizeans this early in the game are now realizing that the U.D.P. is the best option and I would bet you that if they had the opportunity right now because of all the regret; because of all the talent that the new Prime Minister has we would get a shot and the Belize people would in fact make a different choice than they did in November. I will concede that it is a very difficult time financially in the political arena for our party but we know how to make that work and the Belizean people out there know the song and dance.”
