PM Briceño Departs the Country, Cordel Hyde is Ag. Prime Minister

Prime Minister John Briceño departed the country on Tuesday, January twelfth, 2021, on personal leave.  This means that Lake Independence Area Representative Cordel Hyde is acting Prime Minister. Briceño will return on Sunday, January seventeenth. But before he left, the Prime Minister chaired a virtual cabinet session on Tuesday, during which several decisions were made. One of them is creating an inter-ministerial committee tasked with reviewing plans and protocols to reopen the Free Zone.  On this committee are ministers Michel Chebat, Jose Abelardo Mai, Kareem Musa, and Anthony Mahler. During the Cabinet meeting, Minister of Human Development Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Dolores Balderamos Garcia provided her colleague with an update regarding the Maya Land Rights Case. Cabinet recognized the government’s obligation under the Consent Order and agreed that a mechanism is worked out to ensure progress towards compliance with the consent order. Lastly, Cabinet agreed and approved to attach Energy to the Ministry of Public Utilities and Logistics.  A corrigendum will be published in the next publication of The Gazette. The Ministry will now be known as the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics.
