Two-year-old Toddler Perishes in Latrine

The tragic story of baby Leroy Juan Choc’s death is one that is fitting for any parent’s worst nightmare. The two-year-old boy was found in a latrine in San Miguel Village in Toledo on Sunday.  According to baby Leroy’s grandmother, the family was distracted by an animal inside their home and soon realized the toddler was missing. He was found unresponsive inside a newly dug open pit latrine. The hole was two and a half feet deep and had twenty-two inches of water inside. The child’s grandmother, Rosa Choc, is superstitious and believes that a bad spirit is connected to baby Leroy’s death.  Choc explains what happened.
