U.D.P. Chairman Comments on Allegations Made Against Former U.D.P. Minister

Michael Peyrefitte

Chairman of the United Democratic Party Michael Peyrefitte was asked to comment on the allegations being made against former U.D.P. Minister of Works Rene Montero. The new Administration has collected evidence and passed it on to the relevant authorities for a criminal investigation to be conducted into Montero and his time in office. The government believes that Montero used government assets and resources for his personal benefits, a claim that Montero is refuting. Peyrefitte says that the U.D.P. will not defend any criminal acts if that is what the evidence shows.

Michael Peyrefitte, Chairman, U.D.P.

“If people have evidence then bring the evidence. If there was any wrong doing then we go from there but you can’t just allege you have to bring evidence. If the state decides that they want to make any more then mister Montero have all rights. We will be concern if and when credible evidence is produced. We will look at the evidence and when we look at the evidence then we will have a discussion on it and then take a position on it but like the party leader has made very clear if anybody is found to be guilty of any wrong doing in the past administration he will not be one to defend it because we will stand on principal as a political party. Wrong is wrong. However we will not crucify somebody who belong to our party simply because a P.U.P. says that he was allegedly guilty of something.”
