Two Corozaleños Busted with Weed Stash in Ladyville

Ladyville police busted a taxi driver on Saturday night carrying a significant quantity of marijuana hidden inside a gas tank. The driver, Jose Maldonado, was not only operating with curfew hours, but he was also carrying a female passenger, Reina Gongora. Both are residents of Corozal District. Police say the shipment of drugs was destined for Belize City.

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“On Saturday around 10:30 p.m., police, based on intelligence received, conducted a search on a taxi van in Ladyville which led to the discovery of thirty-eight parcels of suspected cannabis amounting to twenty-one point four kilograms.  Inside the van at the time was Jose Maldonado and Reina Gongora and they have both since been arrested and charged for possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.”
