Human Remains Wash Up Near Black Rock Road

Joseph Myvett

The decomposed, skeletal remains of an unidentified man washed up on the Macal River bank in Cayo. It was discovered on Saturday morning in the vicinity of Black Rock Road. Police say that the individual had been dead for a while, and they believe that it is not the body of Miguel Caceros, who has been missing since January first. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett says an autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Also on Saturday, sometime around 9:30 a.m., police were called to an area on the Black Rock Road in the Cayo District where somewhere near the Macal River some twenty-five feet away, the skeletal remains of seemingly a male person was found.  The scene was processed and the remains were transported to the medical lab where it is awaiting a post mortem examination.”

“So identity at this time?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“At this time, no.  The remains from the investigation seem to have been out there for some time and we do believe that it was the flood waters some two months ago that had brought it onshore where it was found.”

“Is there any, do the officers suspect that maybe animals may have disturbed the remains?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“It could have been because they were not entirely in one place.

“So what’s the process taken from here as the investigation moves forward?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Well that will be dependent on the post mortem examination; however, what was found, no sign of physical injury was observed on what was found.”
