Who Will Succeed David “Did” Vega?

John Briceño

While Ingrid Vega slowly recovers, politically speaking, the People’s United Party has to be quick and decisive to retain control of the Corozal Bay Division.  David “Dido” Vega was the P.U.P.’s gentle giant in the division, flipping the constituency and defeating the U.D.P.’s Pablo Marin.  Vega must be replaced with a formidable successor for the government to win the seat once more.  It is unsure whether or not Elvia Vega will be challenged, especially since she has the backing of the P.U.P.’s Corozal Bay Committee.  Elvia is the sister of Dido and was on the campaign trail with him.  According to PM John Briceño, with municipals elections fast approaching, it is expected that the by-election will be held simultaneously.

Prime Minister John Briceño

“As to the convention, to the bi-election in Corozal Bay we as the national executive, we are going to take a look and decide to be able to put a candidate that everyone in our party is going to support so that we can win Corozal Bay once again in the memory of the late David Dido Vega.”

“Do you foresee a convention or an endorsement?”

Prime Minister John Briceño

“That is a matter that the chairman deals with. So I think he is the best person you can speak with about that matter.”

Hipolito Novelo

“And so you foresee a bi-election during municipal elections in Corozal?”

Prime Minister John Briceño

“I think quite likely that would be the easiest thing to do, to have both elections held on the same day.”
