Chester Caught Outside During Curfew

And he may be the top cop in the country, but on Tuesday night, Commissioner Williams was stopped for violating the quarantine regulations.  Williams was driving in Belize City when he was stopped by one of his own officers for being out during curfew hours.  It’s ironic because a low-level ranking police officer caught the highest-ranking police officer in what he thought was a breach of curfew hours.  But in Williams’ defense, he is an essential worker and was out making sure that everything around the city was fine.  Williams kept his cool, and in a leaked audio recording, he joked about his encounter with the law.

Voice of: Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“Good night can you all believe I am out within the city driving around alone in my vehicle making checks in the different areas to see that everything is okay and here comes a police man on a motorcycle, lights on, chase me down, stops me. When he saw it was me, he looked at me and said, “Sir, you cannot be out this late because you are the one who authorized the curfew.”  I am like what the hell? Am I hearing correct? But I maintained my cool and politely said to the officer, “Thank you sir, I am going home.” Maybe that was a show because I saw other vehicle passing by and no police pursuing them. I am certain the police knew it was my vehicle and wanted to put on a show, but I’ll give him a medal for a good performance. (Laughs)”
