COVID-19 Outbreak at Palm View Center
There is a COVID-19 outbreak at the Palm View Center in the Capital. Late this evening, the Ministry of Health and Wellness issued a release confirming the unfortunate situation at the residential care facility in Belmopan. The mental health facility has twenty-seven residents of which twenty-one tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Monday. Seven staff members have also tested positive. According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the outbreak is being addressed and the situation is being stabilized to ensure the wellbeing of the residents and staff at the institution. The release states that “staff and residents who do not have serious symptoms are medically isolated but not hospitalized. Negative patients have been relocated to another building on the property.” The Ministry of Health and Wellness is providing clear guidance for the facility in responding and controlling the spread of COVID-19.
