Sayonara GSU! Not all Officers will Join GI3

Chester Williams

So what becomes of the officers that formed the erstwhile Gang Suppression Unit, will they also be part of the most recent iteration of special assignment officers?  According to ComPol Williams, it is not an automatic transition and many will not be joining the G.I. Three.  He says that a thorough background check will be conducted prior to admission into the taskforce.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“They’ll be doing what GSU did but from a more professional standpoint and indeed, yes, we have to refocus in terms of the attitude of officers who are in this unit and that is the reason why every officer who works within the G13 unit must be properly vetted.  Meaning, that we are going to do our own background check on these officers to ensure that they do not have that propensity of abusing human rights and once an officer who wishes to go to that unit fails that vetting then he or she would be disqualified from going there.”

Duane Moody

“So we will see some officers being removed from that unit…”

Chester Williams

“Yes, that’s for sure.”
