Free Zone to be Safer than Orange Walk Town
In emphasizing the need to safeguard public health, Minister Mai says that the measures to be implemented within the commercial free zone will be more stringent than it is for Belizeans to move around in other parts of the country, including Orange Walk Town.
Jose Abelardo Mai, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security & Enterprise
“The first and foremost important thing to the free zone administration and to our ministry is the health of our Belizean people. If we implement measures that are being implemented in the plan, the risk would be low. I think you would be safer, if you implemented these practices, you would be safer in the free zone than you would be walking in Orange Walk Town because the measures are very strict. Mask. You have to have a mask, if you don‘t have a mask you cannot go into the zone and there will be people checking and walking around ensuring that you have on a mask. Only one-third of the employees will be accepted to be in the zone, so if you are let‘s say a big company and you have a hundred workers, you can only have one-third of you working.”
