COVID-19 Cases Increase by More Than 1,000; 16 More Deaths
After two days without providing the nation with the latest COVID-19 infections and deaths, tonight, the Ministry of Health and Wellness informs that the daily infographic has been modified and will include the antigen rapid testing results for COVID-19. So as of tonight, seven thousand, two hundred and thirty-six cases have been confirmed. That is an increase of one thousand, three hundred and eighty-two new cases since November thirtieth. There are three thousand, five hundred and one active cases and a total of one hundred and sixty-four COVID-19 deaths, an additional sixteen deaths since November thirtieth. There are thirty-eight persons who are hospitalized, including three who are in the Intensive Care Unit. The fatality rate now stands at two point two six percent. The new infographic also includes a heat map and today’s statistics shows that the Orange Walk District recorded seventy-two additional cases, followed by the Belize District with fifty-nine new cases and Cayo with forty-nine new cases. The Ministry of Health and Wellness says that due to the increased testing, the total number of COVID-19 cases has also increased and is being reflected in today’s infographic.
