Prime Minister John Briceño Names His Cabinet

Just before news time, a release was issued on what Prime Minister John Briceño’s Cabinet would look like.  The PM spent all day at Charter House carrying out the arduous task of assigning cabinet portfolios.  He said on Thursday, that not all elected area representatives who won Wednesday’s election can be given ministerial rank because of the constitutional cap.  The new cabinet is made up of eighteen members in this manner: PM Briceño will also be holding the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment.  Cordel Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde, Natural Resources, Petroleum & Mining.  Abelardo Mai is in Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise; Rodwell Ferguson goes to Public Utilities and Logistics; Julius Espat gets Infrastructure Development and Housing; Francis Fonseca is renamed to Education, Culture, Science and Technology; Oscar Requeña from the south is the new minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government.  Dolores Balderamos Garcia is the minister of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs; Kareem Musa is the new minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries; Orlando Habet gets Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management; Kevin Bernard is the new minister of Youth, Sports and E-Governance; Michel Chebat is Health and Wellness; Anthony Mahler, Tourism and Diaspora Relations; Andre Perez will be the minister for the Blue Economy and Civil Aviation; Henry Charles Usher goes to Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform; Eamon Courtenay Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, Magali Marin Young is the new Attorney General.  The Ministers of State are Mike Espat and Chris Coye in the Office of the PM, Ramiro Ramirez goes to Natural Resources; Doctor Louis Zabaneh goes to Education, Oscar Mira for Defence and Gilroy Usher in Human Development. Ambassador Stuart Leslie is the Cabinet Secretary and Chief of Staff.
