Cultural Heritage prepares for carnival

Story Picture
The September celebrations may be five months away but already the carnival bands are working hard to raise funds. If you’re looking for entertainment over the long holiday weekend, the Cultural Heritage Band invites you to the BTL Park on Monday for its 5th Annual Labour Day Fest. There will be fun for the entire family.

Jacqueline Burgess, Publicity Director, Cultural Heritage

“You are going to see costumes from the years past, you know all the other ones like “Chiney Man John” that was so popular. We will also have games for the kids, we’ll have soft drinks, beer, the new beer that is out and a lot of entertainment like from St. Luke’s Primary School. They are going to provide us with entertainment and a whole lot of stuff and that will basically enlighten the crowd.”

“How has the support been?”

Jacqueline Burgess

“Well last year we got a lot of support. What we are trying to do is get the same people that were with us to come back and join with us. Because last year if you can remember, Cultural Heritage was involved in everything from the environmental aspect to school, to sponsoring scholarships, to CET, everything and even providing services to the business community and also clean up campaigns throughout the city.”

The Labour Day Fest runs from noon to 8:00pm at the BTL Park.
