Pump Attendant is Shot During Armed Robbery at Freetown Gas Station

Adrian Perrera

A gas attendant was shot over the weekend at his place of work, the Puma Gas Station on Freetown Road. Adrian Perrera was attending to a customer when he was pounced upon by an armed robber wearing an orange hoodie. Perrera was shot to the back during a struggle with the robber who made off with part of Perrera’s cash sales.  The robber fled the gas station and Perrera remains hospitalized K.H.M.H.  Here is News Five’s Isani Cayetano with a report.

On Saturday evening, twenty-four-year-old Adrian Perrera was at work and was attending to a customer at pump five here at Puma Freetown Service Station when he was approached by an armed robber.  The lone assailant demanded cash from Perrera while brandishing a firearm.  When he refused to hand over the money, both men got into a tussle.

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“A struggle ensued after which Perrera fell to the pavement and he was then shot by the culprit.  Some money fell on the pavement and the culprit retrieved the money and made good his escape thereafter.  The victim remains stable at the K.H.M.H.”

Perrera was shot once in the center of the back and while he is in stable condition, the family fears that he may not walk again,  His sibling, Angela Lopez, told News Five that she was at home that evening when she received a phone call from her brother’s place of work.

“Sir, in terms of this, I know that before we’ve always asked you, you know, if someone approaches you with a gun and wants money, was he wise to have put up a fight the way he did?”

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero

“Again, every circumstance is different and all the information we have is that there was some struggle and thereafter he fell and was shot.”

Perrera’s prognosis, says his sister, is grim because the injury affected his spinal chord.
