UB to Hold Virtual Graduation Ceremony

In a historic virtual graduation ceremony on Saturday, the University of Belize will be celebrating its twentieth anniversary with the largest graduating class ever. The University of Belize will honour one thousand one hundred and ninety-two grandaunts at the Associate, Bachelor, and Master levels. The virtual ceremony will be produced by Great Belize Productions and will feature the first group of students to have emerged out of an online educational experience after the pandemic lockdown in March 2020. Dean of Student Affairs Doctor Martin Cuellar shared more.

“So what we have done is put together a celebration that will be a little be different from the traditional face to face ceremony. One of the things I can tell you is that it will be a little bit shorter. It will be a little bit more technology based which is exactly what we have been doing at the university in our classes since the pandemic this year. So we could look forward to a little bit more video but yet we will still have students and some members of the faculty involved. And so we put it together in a way that it maintains interest. It is less long and it celebrates with us our twentieth anniversary.”

“Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, I believe this is the largest graduation class ever.”

Dr. Martin Cuellar

“That is correct. We have topped our previous record which was last year. We have almost two thousand graduates, one thousand one hundred and ninety two. And so we are well over our record last year which was by fifty graduates or so.”
