Will Tony Herrera be Ready for Nomination Day?

Patrick Faber

U.D.P. Corozal Southeast Standard Bearer Tony Herrera contracted COVID-19 while on the campaign trail in his constituency over a week ago.  Since then he has been quarantined and his physical vote seeking activities have ground to a halt.  But will he be fit to participate in Nomination Day come Wednesday?  According to Party Leader Patrick Faber, it is presently a wait and see as Herrera was swabbed over the weekend to determine his existing health status.  The position was discussed during a meeting of the United Democratic Party earlier today.

Patrick Faber, Party Leader, U.D.P.

“We have said that Tony [Herrera] was swabbed again on Saturday and that we are awaiting the results of that which could cause us not to have any situation at all if he proves to be negative via the test then of course he will go as all other candidates for that constituency will go to the nomination station to be nominated.  What I did brief the meeting on just now is that he met virtually with the returning officer and the opposition member this morning, leading into this afternoon, and I believe that they are making accommodations for him to be nominated.  I believe that that is what came out of the meeting this morning, but we are not quick to jump to that conclusion just yet, in fact we prefer to wait and see the outcome of his test because all of this then would be null and void if tomorrow his test is negative and he is able to, on Wednesday, go to the nomination station in person.”
