Not Just a Jailbreak, but a Hostage Situation Turned Escape

Virgilio Murillo

In the aftermath of the prison break, the narrative of what transpired is gradually being released. As you know, there is an investigation underway by the police department into the incident. But today, C.E.O. of the Kolbe Foundation, Virgilio Murillo said that the incident was a hostage situation turned escape and that the integrity of the building and locks at the prison is not compromised.

Virgilio Murillo, C.E.O., Kolbe Foundation

“This is not just a jailbreak; this was a hostage situation, this was a hostage taking turn escape. We are missing the hostage part. It’s not like tunnels were dug, it is not like somebody breached the integrity of the building or the building and locks were compromised. That never, ever happened. One trustee just punched the guard out, took a knife and stuck up the other two guys and took away their weapon and that was it.  But it started as a hostage situation. I will tell you, when I analyse the situation, if these guys were treated inhumanely, I will tell you that gun with so much ammunition, they would have killed those three guards if they were so hostile and hateful of them. But obviously that did not happen.”
