100 Cops Have Tested Positive for COVID-19

Chester Williams

On Sunday, the COVID-19 infographic showed that forty-seven persons tested positive for the virus which has infected as many as two thousand eight hundred and thirty three persons as of tonight. Of that number, fifteen were frontline workers, including healthcare, B.D.F. and Coast Guard.  Today we got an update from the Commissioner of Police on the latest numbers – he notes that there is an increase in their recoveries but up to one hundred have tested positive since the pandemic began to spread in Belize.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“We have a number of twenty-two who are still positive. It went down from where it was at sixty-one and is now twenty-two. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, we have had a total of seventy-eight officers who are recovered and we have twenty-two currently infected and that will give us a total of one hundred. Separate and apart from the twenty-two who are isolating, we have about another forty in quarantine. So, we still have a number of officers in quarantine who are awaiting test results.”
