Elderly Man Beaten Up in Corozal; Attackers Face Attempted Murder Charge!
Police say that they have arrested and charged several persons for the beat down of an elderly man in Corozal. The incident happened last week Wednesday and tonight the victim remains hospitalized. ACP Joseph Myvett spoke about the random attack that has the perpetrators facing attempted murder charges.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“On the fourteenth of October, police were called to an open lot in Corozal Town where they discovered an elderly male person later identified as Berris Yearwood, sixty-year-old, in an unconscious state. He was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital and later to the KHMH, where, upon me last checking about fifteen minutes ago, he remains in a critical condition. Police did carry out an investigation into this matter and so far arrested and charged twenty-year-old Horace Crawford; Elmer Hall nineteen-years-old and Aaron Lopez twenty-three-years old for the crime of attempted murder. Two additional persons were also charged in relation to this same investigation but they were charged in relation to interfering with the witness. From witness accounts there seemed to not have been any dispute – it may just have been due to being mischievous.”
