Restaurants will Now be Allowed to Host More Than Ten Guests

Dean Barrow

There is good news to report in the hospitality industry this evening.  Restaurants with floor spaces that can accommodate more than ten persons will now be allowed to increase the number of guests at their establishments.  The announcement precedes an amendment to the existing statutory instrument that will relax the restriction on patrons.  It is expected that the Attorney general will provide details of the relaxed measures during the course of the weekend.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“Restaurants across the country, where we were or where we are currently.  As you know that restaurants can only operate for dining in services with a maximum of ten persons, ten customers at any time in the restaurant.  We’re changing that so that in fact depending on your square footage, depending on your space, you can have more then ten persons in the restaurant at the same time.  You have to have the tables set apart so that you observe the social distancing protocol and you can’t have more than ten persons at any one table, ten persons of the same party can be at the same table together but that number can’t exceed ten.  But by and large then, countrywide, restaurants are not any longer going to be restricted in a sort of open or clear fashion without restriction, sort of an inflexible fashion to only having ten persons.  No, you can go above ten if you have the space to accommodate more than ten.”
