Soldier Shot in Escapees’ Cross-Fire Will Undergo Surgery

On Tuesday afternoon, a shootout occurred on the Coastal Road when the law enforcement team of police officers and members of the B.D.F.’s Special Operations Task Force tried to intercept the escapees but they were ambushed. The escapees, according to the report opened fire with the alleged shooter Akeem Tillett firing off about thirty rounds and the lawmen returned gunfire which killed Tillett.  During that shootout one B.D.F. officer was shot once in the knee and grazed on the shoulder. Today, we spoke with Deputy Commander of the Colonel Azariel Loria who says that the injured officer is in stable condition and doing well but will be undergoing surgery.

On the Phone: Col. Azariel Loria, Deputy Commander, B.D.F.

“From the B.D.F., only one soldier was injured during that fire fight some days ago while responding to the escapees. Apparently, the patrol, it was a composition of B.D.F.’s Special Operations Task Force, Police and I think some members of the prison ward. So, while on patrol they were ambushed as you know and our soldier was injured just below the knee that has been reported earlier. He was subsequently brought to K.H.M.H. for treatment. He is doing well. He is stable at the moment. Our staff medical officer mentioned that he will be in preparation for surgery today so all the materials are being required for the surgery and on Monday will be the surgery. It is a basic surgery fortunately for us and for him he will make a full recovery.”
