Were Escapees Assisted by Prison Guards?

Virgilio Murillo

The circumstances of the largest jailbreak in recent history are puzzling given the fact that three prison guards were held hostage for five hours by a prison trustee who was allowed certain privileges one week ago before the prison break. So was it an inside job? Did prison guards assist the escapees?  Prison C.E.O. Virgilio Murillo doesn’t believe so, but Commissioner Chester Williams says his investigators will get to the bottom of it.

Virgilio Murillo, C.E.O., Kolbe Foundation

“We have the police in on this whole thing. CIB is investigating. We want to explore all of that. We are not ruling out anything at all despite of how it happened, despite the fact that they were held at gunpoint for over five hours. We do not want to rule anything. So I am leaning on the police, on the investigation branch to assist us in trying to determine whether that was the case but I don’t want to judge well at least not at this point. We are not ruling that out but thus far I am not getting information that that may be the case. I believe once CIB gets involve. They will ask certain questions that will either cause people to cough up the real right behind it. For right now to me it looks like it was being planned by the prisoner. What involved there may have been by staff I am not certain at this point in time.”

“From the police perspective we are conducting an independent and full investigation in to the circumstance of what occurred. We are hoping to get to the bottom of the truth and we believe that the more of the prisoners we apprehend the close we are going to get to the truth. Yes there are certain things that do not add up that we need answers for but at this time we don’t want to speculate. We want to ensure that we have the proper information to be able to confirm or deny the suspicions that we have. So at this time we are also looking at m embers of the prison the guards in particular to see if they have any involvement in what may have transpired.”
