No New Cases of COVID at Central Prison
At the Belize Central Prison, the number of COVID-19 cases appears to be contained at sixteen thus far. According to DHS Manzanero, eight prison officers, as well as eight inmates, male and female are afflicted with the disease.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“The last note we had is that we had confirmed that eight security officers had come out positive and we had at least eight prisoners that were positive, both male and female prisoners as well. So I think that was the reason that would have triggered this. Two different sweeps were done there last week and of course elements of contact tracing happened because we need to ascertain where the prisoners would have been able to get it from and if they would have infected others.”
