COVID-19 Patients: 26 Hospitalized, but 2 Ventilated at the K.H.M.H.
Today, health facilities in the north and the city are stretched with the largest number of persons due to the virus. A total of twenty-three persons are hospitalised, majority of them at the Northern Regional Hospital in Orange Walk and the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City. At the K.H.M.H., there are nine persons hospitalized, two of whom are ventilated. In Corozal, five persons are also hospitalized and at the Northern Regional Hospital in Orange Walk nine persons are admitted and an additional three were en route just before news time. With twelve persons hospitalized, the Northern Regional Hospital’s quota of COVID beds is full to the max. Doctor Marvin Manzanero says there is concern that health facilities can be overwhelmed with the growing number of patients that need health care.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“The last report I got and this is changing because it is very dynamic is that we have nine patients, two that are ventilated. Seven pending to be…well they were on high flows of oxygen. Nine patients at Northern Regional (Hospital) and five patients at Corozal. Not all of them were COVID-19 patients, but until you get a result, and even if your result is negative and there is a high suspicion, you are considered as a COVID-19.”
