Independent Mark King is in the Race for Pickstock

Mark King

Former U.D.P. Lake Independence Area Representative Mark King has tossed his hat into the ring once again, this time as an independent candidate in Mesopotamia, ahead of the November eleventh general elections.  As the incumbent area rep for Lake-I, King was challenged by the P.U.P.’s Cordel Hyde, his predecessor in that constituency.  King was trounced at the polls by a margin of three to one.  In the wake of his defeat, King went dormant from political life after falling out with his party.  His reemergence in Mesopotamia where Dr. Candice Pitts of the P.U.P. is set to face Shyne Barrow of the U.D.P., respectively, will be one to watch since Barrow has come under fire for a report made against him about domestic violence.  As an independent candidate, he is running under a burgundy banner.  Earlier today, the former minister wrote to Chief Elections Officer Josephine Tamai expressing an interest in running for the division and signing up officially on nomination day, October twenty-first.
