Office of the PM Clarifies False Reports of Dissolution

Both the House and Senate have had their last sittings for the current term of this government and in the Upper House, senators said their farewells on Wednesday after passing a number of bills, including the Cyber Crime Bill which enjoyed support across the aisle.  By this morning, there was a buzz on social media with the circulation of an unsigned and wrongly dated proclamation on the purported dissolution of the National Assembly, but that information was deemed to be false.  The Office of the Prime Minister promptly sent out a release indicating that the notice was not authentic.  The release states, “The Office of the Prime Minister hereby informs the public that the Prime Minister has not yet advised the Governor General on the dissolving of the National Assembly.  The reports published by several media houses today are false. The Government of Belize Press Office is the official source for any such information.”
