Illicit Cargo Missing, but Believed to Still be in the Country

So five persons have been detained and two are expected to be charged on Wednesday morning with facilitating the landing of a plane on an unregistered aerodrome. But where is the suspect illicit cargo? Commissioner of Police Chester Williams believes that the cargo is still in the country and a joint team of Police Officers and B.D.F. soldiers are canvassing the area to intercept it. During his briefing on the incident, ComPol Williams confirmed that the cargo was removed from the area in two vehicles, but that’s as far as he was willing to share. He says that there is enough evidence gathered so far to level charges against a Mennonite and the farm owner.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“The cargo that came onboard the plane, we cannot say what type of cargo, but we assume that it is drugs, it was not found and we believe that it may be somewhere in the country. And so our efforts continue with a view to see if we can locate the cargo. The police and the B.D.F. were doing their best in terms of trying to intercept, but by the time they do get there the cargo had left. As a matter of fact the Mennonite and the owner of the farm had also left, but they were met by the police not too far from the farm after the plane had landed so we were able to tie them to the scene. And then when we subsequently checked we found out that the farm belonged to one of them. And not only does the farm belong to him, but he controls the gate, he had the key to the gate, everything. So there is practically good evidence against those two individuals; the bulldozer guy and the Mennonite.”

“Sir, where are the drugs?”

“Like I said, we believe it is still somewhere within the country. We are trying to seek if we can track it down. We don’t think it has left the country, we are hoping that it is still here and we will be able to find it.”

Andrea Polanco

“Sir any suspicion as to how the drugs were removed from the area?”

Chester Williams

“It was removed in two vehicles. I am not going to go into specifics.”
