Net Steps Down from Additional Posts
As we reported earlier this week, embattled former B.T.L. Chairman Nestor Vasquez has vacated other posts he has held on various statutory bodies, including Chair of the Social Security Board Investment Committee, the Integrity Commission and the Central Bank of Belize. Vasquez’s abrupt departure from these appointments come on the heels of allegations that he abused Telemedia’s corporate credit card for personal expenses he incurred to the tune of roughly four hundred thousand dollars. Vasquez tendered his resignation as Chairman of B.T.L. after twenty years of service on Tuesday, amid the ensuing scandal. An investigation is presently underway to determine the extent of the alleged abuse.
