Kareem Musa Says Qualified Young Belizean Should Be Appointed as B.T.L. Chair

Alan Slusher

It is expected that Alan Slusher will replace Nestor Vasquez as Chair of the B.T.L. Board of Directors. He will be appointed as interim chairman. Slusher is a former advisor to Prime Minister Dean Barrow and has served as Central Bank Governor. The P.U.P. is criticizing the Prime Minister’s choice saying that replacing Vasquez with Slusher proves that the same personalities are being recycled. Caribbean Shores Area Representative Kareem Musa says there are qualified young Belizeans for the posts.

“I think the big concern here Hipolito is that there seem to be a recycling of personalities. And I have absolutely nothing against elder employees but there are a lot of young new people with talent, with qualifications that ought to be getting these jobs. I don’t know the age of Mister Slusher but I know that he has been in the close circle of the Prime Minister. I think he was over at BWSL. But there are other qualified Belizeans but maybe there are not flag waving supporters of this party and perhaps that is the qualification that he requires in order for you to get those high positions. But certainly there are more talented qualified Belizeans that can take up these positions especially for a technological company like B.T.L.  That is where the young mind is required.”
