No Expo 2020, but Great Deals Available During this September Month

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the social distancing regulations in place, the traditional market expo of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry that takes place part of the September Celebrations will not take place.  As you know, the expo attracts thousands upon thousands of persons looking for deals. And while the event won’t be staged, several businesses are offering great deals during this month. A News Five crew made a few drop-ins. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

While the annual expo marketplace held during the month of September has been cancelled for 2020, several businesses are thinking out of the box during these COVID times and putting together great packages for customers who may still want to take advantage of acquiring the latest in gadgets and festive T-shirts and the like.

The T-Shirt Factory, which has readily become a staple of the expo, has a new home. Located at mile two and a half on the Philip Goldson Highway, the new store has opened and for the first time ever, it is giving a ‘buy one get one free’ deal.

“It wouldn’t be a September for us if we didn’t give September deals and I think to all our customers who have been behind us with when we are going to open, when we are going to open, I think we have to apologise. We still feel September pain right now even though we are not doing the events that we would usually be doing, but I know that we opened a little later than the beginning of September so we still trying to give the people that whole September buy. We’ve never done a buy one get one free for bathing suits or T-shirts before and we are running it literally for an entire month.”

It is arguably one of the most sought out booths at the expo annually. For over a decade, Cellular World has been providing a wide range of gadgets and latest electronic devices, including cell phones. This year, owner Karan Sabnani has embarked on an in-store expo at its five locations.

“We can’t have an expo ground this year, but that shouldn’t stop us from giving back to our community, so we decided to go with a new concept which is an in-store expo which instead of getting two days, you are getting two weeks of loaded deals. Same concept with a larger variety being in-store and not at a showground, we are able to showcase our entire product portfolio and carry discounts on basically everything that we carry.”

Sabnani says that the company took into consideration the change from traditional to distancing learning so parents can also acquire tablets, computers and more on a payment plan.

Karan Sabnani

“It started yesterday September and runs through to the thirtieth. As usual, we have phones as low as forty-nine dollars. We know schools are going into distance learning so we have tablets starting at ninety-nine dollars, just making it affordable for all parents to get a device for their child to get back into school coming this October and those already in school as of now. To make it even better, we have the slashed prices and we’ve also introduced something new this year which is the expo payment plan. So it is not only getting a bang for your buck, but it is also doing it in payments. So basically within the duration of the sale, you could pick anything that is on sale, which is already on reduced prices similarly to an expo showground, but now you also get an option to pay it in payments.”

They are not a usual feature of the expo, but Belize Dry Cleaners Tuxedo Rentals are also giving back during this month of celebration. Boasting suits for all shapes and sizes, the company is allowing you to save when you rent or buy this September during its blowout sale! Duane Moody for News Five.
