Rt. Hon. Said Musa Resigns From Electoral Politics

This news just in; two-term Prime Minister and Fort George Area Representative, Said Musa, is retiring from electoral politics. The Right Honorable Said Musa met with P.U.P. Leader John Briceño to inform him of his decision to resign from the political life and step aside as the P.U.P. Fort George Standard Bearer. Musa has been the area representative for the people of Fort George for more than two decades winning nine elections and losing only once.  He took over the P.U.P. with the retirement of the former leader George Price and became Prime Minister of Belize from 1998 to 2008. Musa recently suffered a mild stroke from which he continues to make remarkable progress. He has now decided to step aside to make way for a younger candidate as the date for general elections draws near. It is expected that the P.U.P.’s new Fort George Standard Bearer will be endorsed by the National Executive of the Party on the recommendation of the constituency Branch Executive. That person is Henry Charles Usher who has been chairman of the division for years.
