ComPol Williams Says Mothers Condone Stupidness of Their Children

Chester Williams

The two minors who were arrested for the shooting of police constable Wilbert Chi have been released. A third person, a twenty-year-old man, remains in police custody. Chi was shot while he was on a motorcycle on Ebony Street in Belize City. Hours after the shooting, police officers descended at the barracks on Ebony Street, arresting the two minors and the adult. The parents of the minors say that they were asleep when the shooting happened and the way police officers barged into their homes was uncalled for. Today, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams was asked to comment on the incident.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“We catch people shooting people and when their moms come they say that they are innocent. For Christ sake I can’t answer everything the parents of people say. I don’t think they will ever say that their children are guilty. I am not going to respond to it.”

Andrea Polanco

“They are claiming they are targets of police.”

Chester Williams

“They can claim all they want, Andrea. I am not going to respond to it. That is why the society is the way it is because too much parents that condone the stupidness of their children.”
