Sixteenth death related to COVID-19 is that of a male in his seventies

There is another COVID related death to report tonight; the person is a male in his seventies. He succumbed earlier today at the Northern Regional Hospital so there are now sixteen COVID deaths since the start of the pandemic in Belize.  The latest samples today identified forty-six new cases putting the total number of cases at one thousand three hundred and seven cases around the country. Orange Walk remains the district with the largest number of patients.  A combined eighty-three new cases were detected among the samples taken from a number of villages in the district since Friday. In the Cayo District, fifteen cases were confirmed including seven in Belmopan plus another fifteen over the weekend. There are twelve new cases today in the Belize District. The Corozal District picked up seven new cases and five over the weekend. In Punta Gorda there is one case to report. The Ministry of Health also informed that two persons who had been intubated have been removed from intubation, and this includes the epidemiologist from the Western Health Region. This evening only one person in his thirties remains intubated.  Since the weekend, forty-three more persons have recovered. All in all there are one thousand three hundred and seven confirmed cases of COVID 19.
