Hattieville Resident needs your help to fix her house

Hattieville resident Melissa Jones needs your help. Jones says that her house collapsed on Friday, trapping her and her two children inside. Luckily she was rescued by police officers from the Hattieville Police Formation. Jones says that the area experienced thunderstorm-like conditions and she believes the strong winds caused the house to fall down. She shared that since her story was posted on Facebook she received several promises of assistance but so far only the Chinese grocer in her village has reached out. Now, she needs urgent help to rebuild her home as she is still sheltering with family. She recounts the ordeal that has left her without a roof over her head:

“We mi deh in deh the sleep and we hear a hard sound on the roof and we neva pay it no mind mind like that because we mi say a bird deh on the roof but a hard wind come and the whole thing just gone. And them from deh so we got trapped in the house. We couldn’t come out and we had to call for Hattieville Police to assist us and that is how we come out from under there and we gone dah our family dah eight miles.”

“So, what caused your house to go down?”

“Well, I feel dah the hard breeze weh mi come you know. That night it rained and it was really scary. There was thunder, lightning, you know.”

“Suh unu had like a lee thunder storm through yah?”

 

Melissa Jones

“Yes that dah weh happen right deh so and I guess the ground get moist and that dah weh happen. Thank God the top didn’t drop on us and we didn’t get any kind of major hurt.”

“I would imagine being trapped in there was frightening, though?”

 

Melissa Jones

“Oh , yes! When we go sleep we the think about this thing. Because we mi the sleep when it happened and we had to jump outta fi we sleep. Whatever assistance anybody could offer will be appreciated. Like materials, financial help, whatever, you know. We would really appreciate it. No Ministe nuh reach out to me. I message. NEMO says that they can’t assist because dah nuh hurricane caused the problem and their budget nuh really deh deh. That’s the answer I get back.”
