Home invasion in San Jose Village; two persons charged!

Police have arrested and charged two persons in connection with a home invasion in San Jose Village in the Orange Walk District. Maria Vasquez reported to police that in the early hours of Friday morning on September fourth, three men entered her home, tied her up and proceeded to rob the place. Police investigation led them first to a woman from Belize City who was staying at a nearby house. There police discovered some of Vasquez’s belongings. Further investigation led to a second person also from Belize City. A.C.P. Joseph Myvett shares details of the aggravated burglary.

“She reported to them that sometime after three a.m., on the said morning, three Hispanic males forced themselves into her home; two of whom were armed and they demanded money. As a result, she was tied up and her home was ransacked. A number of items were stolen. As a result, the police carried out an investigation which led to the detention of one Caryn Ramirez, thirty-three-year-old of Belize City who was staying at a nearby home. A search of her belongings led to the discovery of three cell-phones which were positively identified to be those belonging to the complainant. Also a further search of her belongings resulted in the discovery of a nine millimeter pistol with several rounds of ammunition. She has since been arrested and charged for the crimes of handling stolen goods, kept firearm and ammunition without a license. Additionally, police investigations led to the detention and arrest of Francisco Rodriguez of a Belize City address who has also been arrested and charged for the crime of aggravated burglary, as well as handling stolen goods. We are also seeking one other suspect in relation to this investigation at this point in time.”
