Three Road Traffic Accidents Occurred as Nana Made its Way to Belize

There were three road traffic accidents on Wednesday night, two in the Belize District and one in Corozal.  A vehicle crashed into the lamppost near the Lord Banks junction, Ladyville.  Also, a pickup truck overturned near mile one on the George Price Highway.  In both of these cases, the passengers were not seriously injured. In the north, a road traffic accident occurred on the road heading to Xaibe Village.  Several persons were injured including a female child. Commissioner Williams shared details.

On the Phone: Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“As this time all I know there was a vehicle with some occupants. The vehicle might have overturned and the occupants sustained injuries. Nothing serious. They were taken to the hospital and I believe that by now they were treated and released. There were two other accident on the George Price highway, one by Lord Ridge Cemetery and the other by eight miles. But in those two incidents no one received any injuries.”

“In the incident in Corozal, that happened before the curfew time?”

On the Phone: Chester Williams

“No it was during the curfew hour.”

Hipolito Novelo

“So what happens then?”

On the Phone: Chester Williams

“Well like I said prior to the coming of the storm, if it is that we have people who would be moving around during the curfew and would have good reason to do so maybe moving from one area to another to secure themselves and their families from the storm then we are not going to apply any pressure on them to dissuade them from doing so. In this case from what we are gathering these people have a valid reason to have been moving at that particular hour so we are not going to prosecute them for that.”
