Treasury Staff Concerned After 2nd COVID Case Among Staffers

In Belize City, concerns are being raised tonight about the wellbeing of the staff at the Treasury Department where a second case of COVID-19 has been confirmed.  News Five understands that last Thursday a female employee complained of feeling ill after exhibiting symptoms that were consistent with coronavirus.  She reportedly excused herself from work that afternoon and on Friday was swabbed by health officials.  The test result confirms that she is indeed afflicted with the disease.  Earlier today our newsroom was contacted by employees of that department who say that the existing working environment is not conducive to preventing the spread of the virus since that portion of the building which faces Coney Drive was initially intended for storage.  Inside the building there are no true walls that separate employees and the fear is that since the last sanitation exercise several weeks ago, the area may have once again been contaminated.  We are reliably informed that patient number two from the Treasury Department had been initially swabbed a few weeks ago but that test result came back negative.
