Out of two hundred and seventy-two samples that were processed on Thursday, forty-one positive cases were identified.  This brings the total of confirmed COVID-19 cases to all time high of six hundred and forty-eight, with six hundred actives cases.  San Pedro Ambergris Caye remains the area with the highest number of positive cases.  Fifteen new cases were identified there, while the Cayo district and the rest of the Belize District registered nine and eight cases, respectively.  Orange Walk has seven more cases, while Corozal recorded two more.  Sharing the grim COVID-19 figures today was Director of Health Services, Doctor Marvin Manzanero.

“We have two hundred and seventy two tests done. Out of those we have forty one samples as positive, two in Corozal, seven in Orange Walk. For the Belize District we had a total of twenty three with fifteen being in San Pedro. Eight in the rest of Belize District. The Cayo district had a total of nine, five in San Ignacio and four in Belmopan. As we have been stating for the past couple of days is this is preliminary data because once you tease it out it could very well be that five reported in San Ignacio is only because they were swabbed in San Ignacio Community Hospital but they could have been from other villages around San Ignacio. We will have that data further broken down in tomorrow’s report. We have out of the samples processed yesterday we have five recovered cases two from the Orange Walk District, One form Corozal, One from Belize District and one from San Pedro. We can anticipate that as we move along we should start having the recovery of cases from San Pedro because we have completed that fourteen, twenty one days, cycle. As we had said we would also give a further breakdown with a twenty four hour delay more or less of where the cases are coming from.”
