A Formal Export of Cattle to Guatemala is Realized

But there is some good news from the west; that is because the first formal export of cattle to Guatemala was realized on Monday via the western border. The report was made by the Belize Livestock Association.  Months ago, the informal trade of cattle was halted in the west at the start of the pandemic when a village chairman insisted on imposing a fine for transiting through the village. The first batch of cattle to be exported under the new arrangements is for twenty-seven, which were moved to Guatemala through the efforts of the Belize Livestock Marketing Association of Spanish Lookout.  Cattle farmers Paul Penner, Kenton Plett and Jeffery Reimer met the stipulated requirements to enable the exportation of cattle heads to Guatemala.  According to information available, one hundred and eighty thousand heads of cattle are produced per year with up to forty thousand heads available for export to Guatemala.
